Kyo: You know, she always
used to leave that window in her room wide open.
Yuki, suspicious: What were
you doing in her room?
Kyo: I wasn't, I saw it from
Kyo: How does she feel right
Kyo, walks into the kitchen and
sees an array of rice balls: What the hell is this?! You trying to turn this place into a rice ball shop?
Tohru: Oh, good morning. You're
up early aren't you?
Kyo: No, this is when I always
Kyo takes a rice ball.
Tohru: Ah, Kyo, that's a leek
Kyo: Why would you even make this crap?!
Tohru: Well we are going to try a hit and miss
stand remember? And that one's a miss. I can make something else for you if you have any ideas.
Kyo: I dunno,
Salmon and cods okay I guess. Ah, forget it, I'll just make some myself.
Tohru: Wow, Kyo, that's amazing!
The way you make rice balls, you're really talented! Incredible, I had no idea.
Kyo: Well when I was training
I had to make all my own meals and stuff. I just make the plain kind, nothing fancy.
Tohru: Even so, I bet if we
found someone who devoted their whole life to the art of rice ball making and asked them, they'd still say they admire the
way you do it.
Kyo: Where the hell are you
gunna find someone like that?! I mean come on, that's gotta be the dumbest thing I've ever heard. The art of rice ball making...
Kyo walks into the other room.
Tohru: That still doesn't change the
fact that it's admirable. Why can't he see that himself?
Tohru walks up behind Kyo:
Maybe the reason that you don't see it is because it's stuck to your back. What I mean is, a persons admirable qualities.
They're just like say, a pickled plum on a rice ball. In other words, the person's the rice ball and the plum is stuck to
their back. So all over the world you could have rice ballsmade with all sorts of wonderful ingredients, all different flavours
and shapes and colours, ut since it's stuck in the middle of everyone's back, someone could have a plum and not even know
it. They'd look at themselves and think "I'm so plain, nothing but white rice." even though it isn't true, because turn them
around and sure enough, there it is...there's the plum. So if someone is jealous of somebody elses then it's probably because
it's easier to see the plum on someone elses back than your own. Yup, I can see it, I can see it very clearly, Kyo...you don't
know it but you have a great big plum on your back. Yuki's admirable in his way, and you're admirable in yours.
Kyo: Okay now that is definately
the dumbest thing I've ever heard! What's so great about a stinkin' plum anyway?!
Tohru: Oh, I'm sorry, we can
change it to salmon if you want. Excuse me, I guess I left the kettle on the stove.
Tohru gets up to leave.
You've got one too..I mean, stuck to your back. There's a plum.
Tohru looks surprised.
Kyo: I...I can see it.
Tohru: You can see it?
Yeah but it's really small, like a baby plum.
Tohru, smiles: Baby plums are delicious!
Momiji, upon finding out that Tohru
knows about the curse: I can hug you!
Kyo grabs Momiji before he can hug Tohru: Hold it lover boy
Momiji: But Tohru doesn't
mind if I transform infront of her, do you Tohru?
Kyo: Do you even know where you are?!
Tohru: So I guess
he is a member of the Zodiac after all
Momiji: Kyo, you're just trying to keep Tohru all to yourself because
she's so cute. You probably hug her everyday.
Kyo: What?! Hell no! Who would wanna do that?!
Hatsuharu, when fighting with Kyo:
When I'm done with you I'm gunna take your little girlfriend.
Kyo: What the...you're gunna
Momiji: The point is you just
wanna stay in the same room as Tohru, don't you?
Kyo: Hey, I didn't say that so shut up Momiji, you and your damn mouth!
Uo about Kyo: He has a hard
time saying 'no' to Tohru, doesn't he?
Kyo, after two boys talk about trying
to get Tohru to go out with them: See what happens when you stand their like a space cadet?
Tohru: Oh, uh, was
Kyo: At least pay attention when you're by yourself or it'll be your own damn fault when someone kidnaps you.
Kyo: I said when you're alone
Kyo: You don't have to worry about it when you're
with me. You can space out as much as you want.
Tohru, gives Kyo a strange look: ..Right
I didn't mean anything funny by that! I was just saying! S-so don't get the wrong idea!
Tohru: What do you mean?
What am I saying? I sound like an idiot.
Kyo, about going with Tohru to see
her mothers grave: I'm going too!
Yuki: Why are you telling me?
Kyo: Shut up, I'm going and that's
Tohru: For dinner tonight...leeks!
Kyo: What is this? You trying to kill
me or somethin'?
Huh? Oh no, not at all, I'm sorry, I didn't mean for this to happen, I don't know...
Kyo: Forget it, just go make it the best
Alright, I'll try.
Shigure: What's this? Having a lovers spat over such a silly thing?
We are not!
Shigure regarding the fact that Kyo make leek soup for Tohru when
she was sick: Now that really is cute, isn't it?
Tohru, regarding the leek soup
Kyo made her: Kyo did you really make all this for me? It's wonderful! Thank you so much.
Kyo: Yeah yeah, just eat it
Tohru: Alright if you insist.
Kyo: Just leave the tray in
the hall when you're done.
Tohru: Kyo, wait! I um...well...I'm
really sorry, to be so much trouble.
Kyo: If that's the way you
feel then you shouldn't get sick, huh?
Tohru: No, I guess not.
Kyo: Why are you crying?
Tohru: I'm so sorry.
Kyo: What is it? Go ahead,
you can tell me, I'll listen.
Tohru: Well I made a promise
to mom and I let her down. I failed a test and now I'm sick. I let everyone down...Yuki...I wasted all that time he spent
helping me. I feel like such an idiot. I have to be more responsible than this.
Kyo: So are you finished?
Tohru: Yes. I'm finished.
Kyo: First of all if you do
good on the retest who cares if you failed the first one. And second don't worry about that d*** rat Yuki. If you ask me I'd
tell you to waist all of his time, until he's dead. And uh...if you're sorry then just get better quick. Go back to smiling
with that goofy lookin' grin you always have.
Tohru: You think my smile
Kyo: I...that's not what I
mean. Just get better or I won't be happy. And hey, even if it takes you a little while...I can cook and stuff...for a while..so
don't worry about it okay? But you're never going to bed better if you don't eat so hurry up before it gets cold.
Tohru: Right! It really is
Kyo: No it's not. It's pretty
awful. My cooking sucks compared to yours.
Tohru: I think he is...Kyo is actually trying
to cheer me up. I'm so happy.
Kyo: So maybe you're more
responsible than you think.
Tohru: I feel better already.
Tohru: Why don't you take
a break from carrying your umbrella and share mine with me?
Tohru, clinging to Kyo's monsterous
form: Lets go home...back to our house.
Kyo tries to throw her off.
Tohru: I'm sorry, I'm such
a fool. I don't know what to do. I'm afraid...right now, Kyo, I'm afraid of you...but still...I want us to stay together...I
do..always. I want us to eat our meals together...and study together and worry together. I wanna tell you the things that
are on my mind...and Kyo...I wanna listen to you. And so, I want us to stay together.
Kyo, transformed back to himself:
It's okay, you don't have to love everything. If you're afraid...if you're afraid it just means you've seen the real me. Not
like my mom. She went through all the motions of loving me, but she never tried to see me. I wanted us to talk together, and
worry together too. I was fine with her being afraid, even if she didn't love me in that ugly form. I wanted...I wanted us
to stay together. I've been a fool...I didnt that anyone...anyone...would ever say that to me. Not to me.
Kyo, pulls Tohru into a hug:
Tohru starts to cry.
Kyo: How is it that you can
give me the words I needed to hear the most right now? How is it that somebody like you can be here by my side...crying for
Kyo, in cat form, has
tears in his eyes.
Tohru walks home, smiling, carrying Kyo.
